Playlists and apps missing on new computer?

I bought a new laptop and restored my songs, movies, etc. in iTunes via external drive. It looks like everything is back in my iTunes library. However, I am missing ALL of my playlists and apps. 😕 I'm afraid when I go to sync the iPhone and iPad that everything will be a huge mess and lots of things will be lost on the device. 😢 What should I do? Any input would be greatly appreciated!
