Wife has iPhoto on external drive. Mac seems to have "lost path" to that drive. Comes up "no photos" and grey. How do I tell her to find them again? Thanks folks

details are critical - what version of iPhoto and of the OS? What exactrly happens? What has recently changes or what do you think may ahve caused this? Has it ever worked?

Im not there so I dont know what has changed or what she might have done...it has worked for several months with no issues. external is far from full. OS is 10.5.8. how does she check which iPhoto version?

when you depress and hold the option key and launch iPhot and get the select library window why can you not select the library on the EHD?

Doing this on the phone is difficult to say the least, but hang with me....she says what comes up is "a box" and the only place the storage comes up in that box is in the left blue shaded area. she clicked on tha and nothing.
There should be a window with a list (maybe a list of one) of available iPhoto libraries
does she have a backup?

ok. I'm home now. its as she said. But I do notice there is a "original iphoto library" icon on the desk top. I go to the external drive and see iphoto library in there too. Neither will open.
No back up and mac is almost full withi unes, have to move that too.
the external is not on the list. It is only listed to the left in the blue area or I can click on the top menu away from "photos" and find it.
How much free space is on the hard drive?

Is this what you're seeing? When you click on Choose Library can you go to the EHD and select the library there? If so does it open?
What format is the EHD? It should be as shown in this screen shot:
Not much space on the mac hard drive. 1.3TB on external. I do get the choose library prompt. But I get nothing that looks like that annex screen. tell me how to save a screen shot and I'll post what I do get. It's a box that says open photo library in the grey area on top.
