What To Do If Your iDevice Is Lost Or Stolen

If you activated Find My Phone before it was lost or stolen, you can track it only if Wi-Fi is enabled on the device. What you cannot do is track your device using a serial number or other identifying number. You cannot expect Apple or anyone else to find your device for you. At this point, your carrier might be the quickest resource for retrieval of the IMEI. I would consider AppleCare as "Plan B." If you don't have current AppleCare coverage, that information may only be available at some cost to you.

What about the warranty? Do you still have the papers?

Can you find the IMEI number having registered it in the Iphone finder app?

To clarify - this relies on not having access to the lost phone, ITunes, nor the original packing (it was a swapped by Apple on a walk in, being faulty - no packaging was supplied).
