How do I access Airplay on a MacBook running OS X Mountain Lion v10.6.8 ?

I would like to stream music from iTunes and Spotify from my MacBook to my Apple TV or Airplay ready tuner. I can do this with no problem from my iPad 2 and my iPhone 4S - but it doesnt seem to be an option for my MacBook. While this laptop is several years old, it seems that this should be something that I could do. I am not interested in using Third Party products to do this.

Any suggestions?

About AirPlay and Airplay Mirroring

AirPlay Mirroring requires a second-generation Apple TV or later, and is supported on the following Mac models: iMac (Mid 2011 or newer), Mac mini (Mid 2011 or newer), MacBook Air (Mid 2011 or newer), and MacBook Pro (Early 2011 or newer). For non-qualifying Macs you can try using Air Parrot.

Thanks to the $15 Beamer, AirPlay streaming is still possible on Macs that do not support Airplay and mirroring.

Another solution is the Air Parrot.
