Intermittent battery drain on 3G and powering down.

Hi guys!

I've been experiencing intermittent battery drain on my iPhone 5. The battery also heats up a little bit more than usual when this occurs. I've narrowed it down to occurrring when I use 3G internet, but not wifi. The phone has also powered itself down twice now. To turn it back on I have to press and hold the home and sleep button. I've done a restore as recommended by the Apple Support Tech I spoke to a couple of days ago, without any improvement. I'm currently in the process of restoring as new. iTunes is currently downloading a software update for it as well. Any other ideas what I can try? I'm starting to suspect it may be a hardware issue and not a software issue.

Why don't you wait and see what restoring your phone as new does? If that didn't work, then bring your phone to Apple for eval.

Yeah. Was hoping to save myself a trip to the city, but I think it's high on the cards. I'll post how my restore as new goes. 🙂

So far, after the factory reset, it's been using 3G internet for 5 minutes and remains at 100%. Hopefully I've saved myself a trip to the city. Recommend doing the reset as new for anyone having battery issues.
