Advice On Refurbished iPad 4th Gen

I am thinking about buying a refurbished 64GB iPad with Retina display (4th generation) from the Apple Store.

This my first time buying a refurbished Apple product. I was wondering about a few things...

1. How do they compared to buying a brand new one?

2. I read in the description that it has a new outer shell. Does that mean the metal casing and the front panel glass are replaced with brand new ones?

3. What about the front and back camera lens? Are those replaced too?

4. I have the Verizon (voice, text and data) plan for my iPhone 5. I will probably get the Wi-Fi version of the iPad. However, if I am planning on using my iPad with my Comcast Internet connection via a wireless router only, am I obligated to sign-up or change anything with my Verizon plan?

5. Is it really worth getting an iPad that has the cellular feature?

1. Refurbished iPads are repaired iPads. They are equal to the new ones and have the same warranty, but that iPad has been repaired.

2. Correct.

3. It depends on the problem that the iPad had got. If the glass wasn't affected or the problem wasn't serious, probably the camera wasn't replaced.

4. You are using Wi-Fi, so your Verizon plan has nothing to do with it.

5. If you are going to use the iPad outside and you need Internet, it's recommended

There is nothing wrong with refurbished products. The come with a limited Apple warranty which should provide some peace of mind.

On #4, your current plan for your iPhone will be unaffected.

On #5, it depends how you plan to use the iPad. If you plan to use it at home almost exclusively and you have a good wifi connection, you will be fine with a wifi only model. However if you travel or are in business like I am, having 3G is important so you can get email and messages when wifi is not available. Keep in mind that everyone says wifi is everywhere, but that's only true until you are in a place that it isn't. For me, having 3G is essential to stay in touch with my clients.

I have a new (refurbished) iPad 4, 16 Gig, WiFi only model. I do have some music but generally its only used for light web surfing, email, etc while traveling or at home while watching TV. I also read eBooks from my local library when traveling on it.

The WiFi only models are now going for $419 US...a great deal IMHO...

It took exactly a week to get to my front door from China...

As noted by the others it comes with the regular Apple warrenty, etc.
