harddrive replacement

So I have a white macbook (the squarish one with the clicker button on the scroll pad) Maybe from around 2008. I'm pretty sure the hard drive broke..It's always making a clicking noise, and last week when I turned it on it just flashes a white screen. I can't get it to do anything.

Where can I get a replacement hard drive? I'm stuck

You can install any 2'5" SATA hard drive on your MacBook. First, make a backup of your files.

Then, buy a hard drive. Have a look at OWC > http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/hard-drives/2.5-Notebook/ HGST and Seagate disks have a good reputation, and 7200 rpm hard drives will improve performance.

If you have created a clone with Carbon Copy Cloner in the first time, just install the new hard drive, put the old one into an enclosure and start your computer from it. Finally, use Disk Utility to restore your old hard drive data into the new hard drive > http://pondini.org/OSX/DU7.html

You may have to format the new hard drive before being able to restore the data
