What happens when you try to delete the application? Note that you have to delete the old application copy before being able to purchase it at the Mac App Store
The first question was: what happens when you try to open the application? It's not delete, sorry
What do you mean by "Old Pages, not working on my new Macbook Pro"? Which version are you refering too?
Which MacOs system? Mountain Lion? Both Pages 08 and 09 work on Mountain Lion. Pages 08 is in version 3.0.3 and Pages 09 is in version 4.3
Hi, thanks for replying to this.
I can't find the old one.. it doesn't look like its in my applications and when i search it doesn't come up.. it must be somewhere though! 🙂
I can look up in a min, but basically I was told its too old for my new Macbook.
sorry i need to go back in an hour 🙂
Did you install Pages or did you install Mountain Lion on top of an older system with Pages. You really have to give more information. What exactly was the message? We can't see you computer and what you do or have done. Please answer ALL questions.
Hi Sorry, I had to go really quickly. Back now, you still there?
Doesn't matter. We are not in a chat room. If you answer the question I or someone else might be able to help.
Hi Fruhulda,
I installed Pages '09 on my old Mac OS X Version 10.4.11
Then transferred all documents to new OS X 10.8.2
It says:
'Pages cannot be opened because of a problem.
Check with the developer to make sure Pages works with this version of OSX. You may need to reinstall the application. Be sure to install any available updates for the application and OS X.
This report will be sent to Apple automatically'
OK, which version of Pages 09. You need to update it trough software update check to get a newer version that can work on Mountain Lion. It will move you to Mac AppStore and you can update Pages. Do you hae an Apple Id?
You never said how you install iWork from the beginning. Do you a a DVD with iWork?
How did you install Pages/iwork on the new computer?
Hi thanks for getting back to me.
Pages '09 version 4.0.3 (766)
I just went into software update check on my new computer and typed in the above - they said my search had no results.. and this is where I'm left.. Yes I have an apple id.
I don't think I ever installed iWork on my old computer (its 7 yrs old). I definitely dont have an dvd with iWork.
If it would save time.. what i'd like to do is delete the old file off my new computer (but I cant find that!)
Then I can buy just the new Pages, rather than it not allowing me to either use the old or update it.
Thanks for your time
Suzanna
I can't remember how Pages was installed on my old computer, it was given to me by my university with the applications on - but not iWork
Ok, use Yvans script from here
It does have English explaination.
Then restart the computer and go th the Mac App Store.
Thanks. I've downloaded the 'uninstall iWork '09' folder onto my desktop. There are two files..
uninstall iWork '09 - when I click on this nothing happens.
uninstall iWork '09.applescript - for this one an Apple script comes up which is really detailed and computer language.. (not sure if these are Yvan's instructions?)
Use the script. It will open in Applescript. Then click on Run
