Address Book stops responding soon after opening the program. How can I solve this?

    Step one is to log into a newly created admin user account and see if the problem persists.

    You mean to create a new user on the computer?

    Wouldn't it be easier, less complicated and straightforward to reinstall Address Book?

    The only two ways I know of doing that is to reinstall the OS or extract AB from the install app using Pacifist, both of which take longer. Creating a new admin user account, logging into it, and seeing if the issue persists will indicate if it's specific to the original account or system-wide.

    WOW. I never would have thought Apple would be so difficult to deal with.

    Reinstall the whole OS just to fix one buggy program?

    The problem with creating a new user is that my address book contains several synced collections. Recreating that with a new user is going to be a process I'd rather not get into.

    Also, I don't know if two users can be logged in at once, so I can't toggle back and forth keep working while I test the Address Book as the other user.

    All you really want to ascertain is if AB quits in the new account. It doesn't have to match the original's setup.


    AFAIK, fast-user switching should allow two or more to log in at the same time. I don't use it, since there's only me, but give it a go.
