What percent is left? To see battery level, put the Bluetooth icon in the menubar, click on it and and hover over the name of the mouse.

    20% for a week.

That doesn't sound accurate. Shouldn't stay at 20% for a full week. Get the Mighty Monitor Widget.

I downloaded the widget, but it doesn't give me the option to set all the warnings to 0%.  It looks like it just adds more warnings of critical mouse battery failure.  Wish there was a widget that would do that when the laptop battery is low.

It should give you a more accurate read of battery left. I use rechargeables and find the absolute limit is down at around 4% showing from MM. How is it nagging you? When my mouse is low I only see a blinking Bluetooth icon in the menubar; I hardly notice it and it's easy to ignore.

Use a Logitech M325 family of wireless mouse, rated from 4-5 stars all over the web.

It comes with USB nib that remains plugged in, a two button wireless scroll wheel laser mouse with automatic shut-off and the first set of batteries are free.

It will last about a year per set of batteries and it's more contoured to fit the hand better and it's a real two button mouse, plus it's pretty tough, I've dropped mine many times and it's still going strong.

Logitech makes the best mice and at decent prices as well.

Netgear makes the best routers IMO.

Apple's mice are well, Apple's mice.

    Hello ds store,

Which batteries did you use, yet make last for a year?   I am having awful trouble with mine (please could you take a look at a current thread I recently started but have had few responses to ... Unexpected battery readings: Apple Support Communities)

Admittedly I am using a new, well, Apple mouse , but I'm also using the Apple charger and batteries.   For about 3 hours a day, 10 - 12 days use does not seem good to me.   Do you have any thoughts?

I think the Apple mice demand more power to communicate to the Mac, thus eat more batteries, or else something else is wrong.

On the other hand the Logitech mouse uses a USB nib, drawing current from the port, but the mouse itself uses a lot less power for some reason.

Whatever or however Logitech are doing it's great, because I hardly ever need to replace the one AA battery.

No software to install, just plug and play.

Plus I can rest my fingers, not hover them in the air like on the Apple mice to avoid a touch/click.

    Thanks for your observations, ds,

I'm writing in three threads at the moment about this matter so it's getting a touch complex.  I did experiment with logitech (I think it was an MX415) and it wasn't too good with my Mac.  I found the scroll wheel uncomfortable after the mighty mouse.

But 18 months battery life!   Wow!

The Logitech M325 scroll wheel is smooth and it has a button  which when clicked one can pan around scrolling using the mouse.

I think if you tried it you would love it.

Mighty Mouse I didn't much care for, I was the guy who online (40,000+ hits) with the first dissected photo's of it's insides, predicted the rollers and mouse ball would quickly get dirty/gunked up with skin oils as there was no way to open it up and clean it.

I was right, Apple soon replaced it with the touch pad top Magic Mouse or whatever, still it's terrible mouse ergonomically speaking.

I don't like the thought of wasting £50 on the Apple mouse but I'll check Logitech out when I am next in a more general computer store.   Thanks for the tip, ds.

Correction: that's 4% for the Bluetooth notification. I forget what it is for MM. Right now I'm getting a low battery notice with BT at 6% and MM at 20%
