I HAVE OS X 10.5.8 I AM UNABLE TO UPDATE TO 10.6 VERSION. HOW CAN I DO THIS???

i need a version 10.6 or newer to run new software programs

i currently have version 10.5.8

how can i update????

when i try to update, apple tells me there re no new updte and my computer is fine


also, when i check "about this mac" on my comptuer, the logo is a cracked apple????

Welcome to Apple Support Communities


First, check that your computer is supported. Open  > About this Mac, and check Processor. If it's an Intel processor, you can upgrade. Then, buy Snow Leopard > http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard


Make a backup, insert the DVD and upgrade. After upgrading, open  > Software Update, and install Mac OS X 10.6.8.


Can you take a screenshot of About this Mac? To take a screenshot, press Command, Shift, 4 and Space keys, and press that About this Mac window. Then, press the camera button on this reply box to upload that picture
