Jun 30, 2013 2:21 PM in response to ildauraby Alley_Cat,If the AppleTV 1 was synced with an older computer you will need to go to Settings>Computers and highlight and select the top entry and remove it, then re-add the new computer as a new sync library.

Jul 1, 2013 2:24 PM in response to Alley_Catby ildaura,Thank you. I have tried that as well as a factory reset and I'm still unable to see the apple tv in the device list. I'm about ready to give up on it!!!

Jul 23, 2013 12:39 AM in response to Alley_Catby Accumulate,Which settings Alley-Cat?
My first generation Apple TV was synced to an older computer ( currently use OSX 10.8.4 ) via Ethernet. I no longer have an internet, movie or podcast connection ... reset settings with IP address etc and the message is ... ' TO SWITCH TO ETHERNET CONNECT AN ETHERNET CABLE TO YOUR APPLE TV'!! Strangely, my itunes photo and music library's are still connected.
I have been trying to sort this matter for over a year and have really given up.
