Motion tracking?

Is it possible, either in FCPX or Motion 5, to identify a point and have an effect follow it? An example might be if I were to have someone do a sword demonstration with a green marker at the tip so that I could follow it to draw lines, etc., without having to hand-animate every frame.

Thoughts?

you have diff. options in Motion5:

here, my first test to track a point(ing finger):

after tracking, you can apply any other 'element', in my test a title.

to create a line, I would apply a particle-emitter with some high 'frequency' to create a solid line

other option is to track 4-points, here a test with a sheet of paper

this allows a sort-of 'perspective' - no real 3D, you see at the end,

as Mocha/After Effects uses.

finally, lately came out a very handy plugin, SliceX

… ok, a plugin costing THREE-times than its host-app is a bit … surprising 😉

but very impressive!
