Dosent recognize my account or password at login on iChat

I am trying to login to my iChat acct on my MacBook and it does not recognize my password or username is incorrect. I reset password a few times still no luck. Then I cancelled the account and opened a new one with (Mac.com and aol.com) success but when I try to open on my iChat feature on MacBook still comes up password or username incorrect. So I tried resetting password very carefully with no success, same problem. Can anyone help please?

MacBook, All systems are up to date

HI,

A little more detail on the name would help and also the iChat version number.

For Instance.

Apple IDs issued under iCloud (@Me.com or @icloud ending names) will not work in iChat 5 or lower

This is because the checks iChat 6 and Messages make require the app to be logged in to Apple as well as AIM to then be allowed to "read" the password.

In All cases (Includes @mac.com names) the password on Apple IDs that work as AIM Screen Names have to obey the AIM limit of 16 characters.
