BC Windows 7 Install Partition Issue

Am attempting to install Win7 on a paritioned HDD. So far I've partitioned the HDD using Disk Utility. I've done this installation before on other Macs with no problems. Not sure what the deal is now. The partition is OS Extended (journaled) and is erased (clear).

BCA is displaying this dialogue: The startup disk must be formatted as a single Mac OS Extended (Journaled) volume or already partitioned by Boot Camp Assistant for installing Windows. And the checkbox for Install or remove Windows 7 or later version is grayed-out.

Any assistance appreciated.

As is written in the instructions, the disk must be single partition to start, barring the hidden Recovery Partition.

Then BCA creates the partition you need and modifies the boot sector of the drive to dual-boot.

Windows 7 install will boot that partition as NTFS for you.

Ok, I got as far as the screen that asks: Where do you want to install Windows?

Various disks appear; chose the one that reflected the alloted size (Disk 1; Partition 4)

>Format > OK > Next. This elicited this comment: Setup was unable to create a new system partition or locate an existing partition. See the setup log files for more information.

Now what?

Delete the partition and return your Mac to a single OSX partition, then use Boot Camp to create the Windows partition.

DU is the wrong tool for the job, you should have used BC to create and/or remove it, then use BC to create the partition for Windows

This time I advise that you read the BC directions first.

BC can remove a partition? All I see is it allows for sizing the windows partition.

If anyone else has this problem what worked for me was:

-highlight the partition that is named BOOTCAMP (mine was Drive 1; Partition 4)

- select Drive Option (advanced) below

-select delete > new

> format > next, and you're off to the races.
