I tried searching for the answer to this problem but, I have come up short.

After not using my computer for about 24hrs I go to check something out. I am unable to make my log in screen appear ( i see a black screen, as if its stuck sleeping myabe?) so I tried re-starting it. Over 3 times it took me to my log in page but as I attempt to type in my password it goes back to the black screen. As a type this I also notice that the light that is usually on the "bottom lip" of the computer is not on( I was eventually able to get on)

...I'm sorry for my silly question, I am clearly not tech-savy!

If resetting the smc & pram do not work, it's time to take the computer to an Apple store or an AASP. Whichever is more convenient for you. Diagnostic testing is free. If you do not have Apple Care, you will be responsible for the repairs.

Apply to you? MacBook Pro: Distorted video or no video issues. The affected computers were manufactured between approximately May 2007 and September 2008.
