ipod won't sync to computer

I haven't synced my Ipod to my Itunes in a month or two. I just now tried to plug it in to Sync and the computer won't recognize it. It won't stay charging either. It keeps charging and then not charging. Not sure what to do and the sound it makes when it gets plugged in is driving me crazy. It's like I'm plugging it in and unplugging and plugging it back in a million times. Please help!!

Not Charge

- See:

iPod touch: Hardware troubleshooting

- Try another cable. Some 5G iPods were shipped with Lightning cable that were either initially defective or failed after short use.

- Try another charging source

- Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.

- Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows

I would start with

Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7

or

Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP

Run this to help if it identifies the cause

iTunes for Windows: Device Sync Tests

Have you tried on another computer to help determine if you have a computer or iPod problem?
