Please open System Information (located in Applications > Utilities).

In the left column you will see Printers. Select this.

The right side will show you information about the LBP3300. Please select all this information, copy it and then paste it back here.

Also, if the LBP3300 is connected to the Mac via USB cable, still in System Information you will see an entry called USB. If you click on USB the top right view will show all the USB busses in the MacBook Pro. The LBP3300 should be visible under one of these busses. If not, then there could be a problem with the USB cable.

If the printer USB cable is connecting to the USB port of a wireless router, then you will not be able to print to the LBP. This is due to limitations with the CAPT driver for OS X.

As for connecting the LBP3300 USB cable directly to the Mac, this should work. You mention it not working. So can you please provide me with the System Information I asked for previously. I need to check the configuration of the print queue.

This is the same information you posted previously. This is not what I need to see. To repeat what I require.

  1. Open System Information (located in Applications > Utilities).
  2. In the left column you will see Printers. Select this.
  3. The right side will show you information about the LBP3300. Please select all this information, copy it and then paste it back here.

Thank you.

This shows that the print queue is using the IPP protocol, which is not supported by the CAPT driver. You must use LPD with the CAPT driver.

The other issue is the network connection. Looking at the specifications for the LBP3300, it only has a USB port - not an Ethernet port. So if you have the printer USB port connecting to a USB port on a print server / router, then this will not let you print.

Ok. I will try with LPD.

Also, the Printer model came with a provision for an ethernet adaptor, which i got it installed by the canon team. The thing is, it works fine with my macbook white through wifi and also my windows 8 pc. Only the MBPr doesnt seem to work with it.

Many Thanks to you for your support. will post once I try to install it with LPD as you suggested.

There is still something failing when the print quue is being created. If you look at the entry starting with URI, this is the print queue. Your connection shows lpd://192.168.1.110. For most printers this would be correct, but not for the Canon CAPT driver. It expects a print queue URI of cnbma://localhost:59687. If you checked the white MacBook you would probably see this.

So, to fix this Mac, open Print & Scan and delete the LBP3300.

Then open Finder, click on Go > Go to Folder and enter the following path

/Library/Caches/Canon/CUPSCAPT

and press Return. You should now see a CCPD folder. Trash this folder and restart your Mac. Then add the printer again using LPD as the protocol. Then check System Information > Printers to see if the LBP3300 URI is now showing "cnbma://localhost:59687". If it is, then see if you can print.
