M "mute" button blinking

Hi everyone, I am new in this community. I have a problem in my Logic Pro 9 project. The M button (mute) is blinking and sample sounds intermittently. I have not solo track, I tried to take any channel strip and solo it, then Option-click its solo button and unsolo'ed all tracks but Mute still flashing and sounds intermittently. When I select another track, the previous remains silent and the selected track blinks and plays intermittently.

I closed the project and opened a different one but the problem continues. I restarted my Mac, I create a new project with only one track, but Mute still blinking and sounds intermittently.

Please I really don't know what to do, I hope you can help me!!

Yep, sorry. I'm afraid I mainly (only... 😊 ) read the topic title. The OP had already tried option-solo. I'm sorry for my careless reading.

I haven't seen or heard from this one either, but since it seems to happen in any project, the first thing to assume is that external hardware is to blame. Antmus, do you have any sort of control surface attached? Can you unplug all you MIDI devices and see if the problem persists?

I suddenly "get" what happens: mute is being toggled on & off (blue-grey, sound interrupted), continuously. There must be a control surface that's gone, eh, 'maverick'. Yes, sirree, a maverick control surface.

You can simply verify this by unplugging it, and the blinkin' blinking should stop.

Why? What is reason for the blue-gray blinking. Haven't seen that one.

Thanks for your technical support. I don't know how, but I someway solved the problem. I reset the connection between my Mac and my OSX and now it workssomeway,even if I still don't know what happened. Never seen.

Hi Eriksimon,

I noticed that you identified exactly what happened with me! Out of the blue, my LP9 started flashing the Mute button on this one track only, no matter what I do - just like above.

I happen to record my electric guitar onto LP9, using a Yamaha THR10 amp - it connest to my Mac using a USB. When I unplug the device, the Mute button stops flashing and it start again - as you said in your post above.

So I downloaded the PDF link you kindly provided but couldn't find any help on how to sort this issue. Do you happen to have some more advice on this?

Any input would be highly appreciated, thanks for your time.

I forgot to say, the M blinking blue-gray-blue-gray- etc.., not justblinkinggray-disappears-gray-disappears-etc.., I don't know if it is clear.

Hi

Do you by any chance have some Track Automation for the Mute status of that track, or do you have an external MIDI controller that might be transmitting spurious MIDI CC messages (CC9)?
