Why won't logic express work with bluetooth headphones?

I have a bluetooth headset that doubles as stereo headphones. It connects and works fine with iTunes and other audio/video files but it does not work with Logic express.

The problem seems to be that when registering as a device it has a double entry. One as a headset with a 1 in and 1 out connection working on 8000hz and the other as stereo headphones with 2 out connections on 44100hz. Both 'devices' have the same name and when I change the audio output in Logic Preferences it seems to select the Headset option because it also changes the input to the headset.

I have tried changing the input back to Line input but then when I try saving this configuration it usually freezes up when I try saving it and Force Quit doesn't work either so I have had to resort to switching the iMac off.

I do not really want the headset facility but I cannot see how to delete it.

Has anybody got any suggestions?

iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.8), Logic Express 9, Mainstage
