How do I add my phone number to iMessage on iPad

How do I add my phone number for my iPhone to my iPad for iMessage. On the settings on iMessage it only gives the options for an email. I have tried typing my mobile no in there but it doesn't accept it and there doesn't seem to be any other way to add it.

I was getting iMessages for my mobile number on my iPad until I recently logged out and then back into my apple ID. Now the mobile number has disappeared on my iPad for both FaceTime and iMessage.

iPad, iOS 6.1.4

What you should probably do now is log out of Messages on the iPhone, start all over again and then the phone number should reappear as an option to use for Messages and FaceTime. You will have to log in on the Phone again first to get this process to work.

Then something is going wrong in the process. It should work. You are sure that you tried every step in here?

If your phone number is not listed on an iPod touch or iPad, follow these steps:

  1. Update to the latest version of iOS.
  2. Verify that you're using the same Apple ID that you are using on your iPhone.
  3. On your iPad or iPod touch, sign out of your Apple ID in the following locations:
    • Settings > Messages > Send & Receive. Tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
    • Settings > FaceTime. Tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
  4. Sign in to your Apple ID with FaceTime and iMessage.

If your phone number is still not listed, follow these steps:

  1. Sign out of your Apple ID on all iOS devices, including your iPhone, in the following locations:
    • Settings > Messages > Send & Receive. Tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
    • Settings > FaceTime. Tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
  2. Sign in to your Apple ID on your iPhone.
  3. When activation is complete, your Apple ID and all verified email addresses should be visible in Settings > Messages > Receive At and also in Settings > FaceTime.
  4. Now sign in to your Apple ID on your other iOS devices.
