It says could not connect to the ipod because it is locked with a passcode. You must enter our passcode on the ipod before it can be used with Itunes. I forgot the passcode so how can I enter/ restore/reset it?

As the linked articl says, place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

I tried using recovery mode, worked fine until my computer calculated that the update will take 5 hours to download. Is this normal? Plz help me i am using an iPod touch 5g with iOS 6.1.3 (and im not sure why it is downloading the update because i had it before i forgot my passcode.)
When you restore via iTunes, iTunes reinstalls the latest iOS and has to download it if it is not already on the computer.
My experience is that the download speeds ups.
Huh, i see, but if it isnt fast enough my ipod turns on by itself from recovery mode and returns to "iPod is disabled - connect to iTunes" (i just learned that my galaxy has built-in faces :-P)
Try disabling the computer's antivirus and firewall.

Place the iPod in recovery mode after the firmware download is complete and then restore using the instructions in the article. Sometimes recovery mode timeouts and returns to disabled before the firmware download is complete.
