Make profile photo you avatar how can you take your uploaded photo your avatar photo? Yes I know it is ugly but it is what I have to work with.😕
At the top of the website, click on My Stuff/Profile - to the right you will see a link for you change or add a profile pic.
You will have to be level 3 (500 points) in order to do this. Until then you can choose one of the existing avatars.
Then how come I see people with only 1 point with a custom avatar?
You mean the upside down one?
I mean Roger said you needed 500 points in order to use a custom avatar. The upside down one was from a user with "0" points. Why am I unable to use a custom avatar? Plus I get hit with post limits all the time.
No idea, you may have to ask the young lady how she did it.
The Apple Support hosts are aware of this, but evidently the underlying Jive software has taken it upon itself to override the limits Roger mentioned for some users, but not all.
That is a glitch that started a few months ago when the generic avatars were changed. It's completely luck who get's them. Usually they're reported and pulled down.
Post limits are part of an effort to stop the wall to wall spam the Forum was experiencing.

I wouldn't waste my time. You caught the first one and got the ball rolling. It's not a huge infraction that people are doing on purpose so I just smile when I see it and don't give it a second thought.
Yeah, I wouldn't either. I mean it's not hurting anyone. I just thought there was something I was missing when I tried to see why I could not. Not a big deal.

I did a little test on the issue with an Apple ID (Level 1) I have had since 2004, which I knew I had never even attempted to upload a profile pic or set an avatar. I was able to get the Primary Profile Pic to automatically turn into an avatar with no further action required
I did these things:

I cannot recall whether the *link* above the array to "add custom avatar" (paraphrased) was present
I should have stopped there and reveled in my "luck" as AlohaBob put it - but NO, I decided would see if I could REPEAT the experiment!
I then became like any other Level 1 user, no custom avatar facility at all.
Repeatable = no "luck"
Hey thanks ChitlinsCC....no luck for me. Oh well, I'll just wait I suppose.
