play flash in powerpoint?

Question

play flash in powerpoint?

Did anyone have success in playing flash animations (SWF) in powerpoint (version 2004) on the mac?

The SWF i've got plays fine in Safari, but not at all in powerpoint ...

Any ideas, pointers, insights will be highly appreciated.

The prereq's to doing this are:

Microsoft Office

Apple QuickTime 6+ (Mac uses the QT engine for SWF playback)

The Flash SWF file has to be version 5 or earlier (yes version 6 and 7 don't work)

If you meet all of these requirements then all you need to do is navagate to the slide you want you Swf file to reside on and

Insert > Movie from File > and choose the Swf file you want to embed.

and there you have it.

ah, i didn't know that -- thanks a lot, that answers my question.

[@apple: why can't QT play verision > 5 ??]

I had all the SWF now converted to version 5 (the earliest one i could get), and embedded them as you described -- but, alas, this solves it only partly.

PPT does play the SWF now, but there are several "stop points" in the animation, and the SWF continues only when clicked again.
This works fine in Safari and Finder's preview, but PPT plays the whole SWF animation in one go ;-(

Oh well, what can you expect from a M$ product?
