My Ipod will literally not sync or allow me to play the music off of my playlist on one of my authorized computers; it won't even allow me to manage it, or automatically sync/ update new music on the computer I had originally synced it with. What is going on? I would like to be able to add new songs I have purchased from the itunes library to my Ipod! Help!

    Hello kdanos,


    It sounds like you are not able to add new music to your iPod nano.  If you have synced your iPod nano with another computer, you may need to enable manual mode:


    If you want to keep the music library on your device, but copy songs or playlists from the music library on the second computer, click Cancel when the dialog box appears, and then set your device to manual mode.




    When in manual mode, to add songs or playlists, drag them from iTunes to the device icon in the sidebar. To remove songs or playlists, select them on the device in iTunes and press the delete key. You can also create playlists directly on the device.

    If you are still having trouble with syncing content after enabling manual mode, I recommend following the steps in the troubleshooting assistant the iPod nano.  I wasn't sure what generation of iPod you have, so just click on the model you have in the following link to get the steps for your model:

    Hi Sheila,


    I am still having problems. I have the 6th generation nano, and I got the iPod to connect to my authorized computer, but it still will not connect to the home computer the apple account belongs to. It does not show up when I plug it in.


    Also, I got to the point where I can see the home computer's library and stuff (on the authorized computer) I just cannot manually manage anything from that library, and I cannot add or take away songs from my ipod to the playlists in the home computer's library and vice versa.


    I went through the trouble shooting, and I updated Itunes, but still it won't work. Also, I did make sure that my ipod is manually managed, and it still won't work. I just want to be able to add the songs I purchased from the home computer's library to my ipod and I just can't. It doesn't help that I can't connect to the home computer either, the ipod just goes in and out of connecting...it doesn't stay connected.


    Another thing: I can manage the playlists in Itunes on the home computer. For example, I added some purchased songs to my playlist. But once I do new stuff, the authorized computer is not seeing the changes.



    What should I do??

    Thank you for providing the additional information about what is goin on.  It sounds like your iPod nano is not even appearing in iTunes on your home computer.  I recommend following the steps in this article to help with that:

    It also sounds like you have an authorized computer that sees the iTunes library from the home computer as well as your iPod.  You won't be able to sync the music over by just seeing the songs over the shared library, you will have to transfer the songs to the authorized computer before you can sync it to the iPod.  You can use Home Sharing to transfer the music to your authorized computer.  I recommend reviewing the section titled "Home Sharing" in the following article:
