Q: Syncing logic to tape machine

Hi,

I have got a 2 inch soundcraft Saturn reel to reel machine ,it does come with a synchro board but I was advised to use something like motu timepiece etc

Researching on the Internet give,s me some concern re logic 9 ,not be Sample accurate syn,.?

Does that mean logic (as a slave)will sync midi ok but not audio ?

If so can I get around this by using logic,s built in sampler EXS24 etc

I want to make music but I don,t want to be craning over a computer all the time,so I want to perform to tape and bounce back & forth ,reducing my time on the computer.
