Yet more problems with AppleID

I am having a horrible day using Mac Products and iTunes.

I wish, oh wish that at the beginning of ever using Macs and iTunes there had been massive red caps saying "DO NOT USE ANY OF THIS UNTIL YOU FULLY UNDERSTAND THE FOLLOWING" followed by a clear and succinct set of warnings about how Apple IDs work and are associated with devices etc.

I have had various problems with that today.

Now, the latest is that I have changed my Apple ID in settings for "Account" on my iPhone 4. Then, when I went to update aps, it asked me for my password for my Old Apple ID, even though I can confirm that the Apple ID in my settings is the new one that I want!!!

Why!!!!

Anything Downloaded with a Particular Apple ID is tied to that Apple ID and Cannot be Merged or Transferred to a Different Apple ID

Thank you - I will note that it solved that problem in a sec.

Maybe you can help with this - I downloaded a movie onto a PC when I purchased it from iTunes using iTunes account 1 (this was about a year ago). In the meantime I have bought a mini mac in my office, and I use iTunes for it using account 2. Then, something prompted me to download it onto my iPhone from iCloud whilst my iPhone was still connected to account 1. At this stage, I wasn't even aware that my iPhone account had a different iTunes account that it was assocated with. Today I synched the phone with it in Movies, and the Movie showed up in my library. But I can't play it on my MiniMac. (I didn't really want to watch it, but was just testing it).

Do you know if there is a way of downloading it and playing it. I changed my iTunes login to Account 1 on my minimac and tried to access it that way, but it doesn't work.

It seems that once it has downloaded to a device - that is it for ever (except for songs on iCloud).

I guess you are not from Mac so this would fall on deaf ears - I know that iTunes is set up certain ways for certain reasons - it is just that I think that they should be really explicit about must read information for first time useers so that they know not to barge in and download stuff without paying attention to how they are logged in and what rights they get to download to what devices

Kind of like the big red warning labels they put on cars that say, "Do NOT try to drive this vehicle until you have had some driver education!? 😉
