I hit delete by mistake how do i recover them?
i plugged in the ipad to the chip using the camera connection and the pictures all loaded to the ipad. I hit delete my mistake. Can I recover the pictures? The chip is empty.

Do you still have the copy on the iPad?
You can always transfer the copy on the iPad to a computer to back them up. Otherwise you will need a recovery program such as Recuva for the PC or Disk Drill on a Mac. Do not use the card till you recover the photos, they may still be there but can be over-written by new files.
