How do I find an MPG codec for Quicktime

I am looking to find a codec for MPG file formats that will work in Quicktime

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.4.9)

QuickTime Player supports playback of MPEG-1 formats.

If you have MPEG-2 formats then you may need the software linked above.
