I know this sounds dumb but I can't find the receipt for my imac and could someone till me where I can find out what year my imac is. I looked in the apple but could not find a date. I am looking to see if my harddrive is part of the seagate replacement program.

thanks

The Seagate replacement program only affects to iMacs sold between October 2009 and July 2011. If your iMac was bought in that date, type your serial number in this site > http://www.apple.com/support/imac-harddrive

To find the serial number, open  > About this Mac, and double-press Version

    Dowbload and install CoconutID:

    http://www.coconut-flavour.com/coconutid/index.html

That tells you exactly where and when your Mac was made.

If you click on the Apple symbol in the upper left of the OS X top main menu bar. then click about this Mac, a pop up window appears. Click on the more info button. A Window appears that tells you everything about your iMac.

Copy/paste this info into another reply in this thread (editing out your iMac's serial number) and we can tell you what year your iMac is.

Or once you have this info window open yourself, you can go to this website to figure out yourself what year, screen size, and CPU speed your iMac is.

    Is my previous reply invisible?

    Thank you Klaus 1

At first when i opened coconut I thought it was not working because I could not figure out how it knew what year my computer was,but i get it now it say 2009 and that is the year it was made. Wow it's pretty smart.I kept thinking i was not loading it right or something. It's pretty straight forward when you open it up from the internet. It really helped. I am guessing all these seagates are lously because mine is failing also. It's not the 1TB but wow I expected the mac to last longer than 31/2 years. Now at costing me 450.00 to get a harddrive and fan it's a lot. They tell me you have to put in a fan when replacing the hardrive. I own a lacie and Western Digital external drive and love them never a problem. I don't thing I will ever buy a seagate. Thanks for your help,
