The first place I would check is to see how big your backup is going to be for iCloud. Go to Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup > Manage Back up, after that click the backup that has This iPad on it. In it, it will detail after how big the backup is and you can turn off things that you do not want to back up. You also still have the option to backup to the computer via iTunes as well.
