There is a widespread problem with some routers, especially older ones, especially if their firmware isn't updated, especially for (apparently) certain security protocols (WPA, TKIP). No real solution yet but there are rumours of a new test fix from Apple. They seem to do well connect to Apple's newest routers and you get 802.11AC which makes the new MBAs really fast.
