Not able to download mountain lion

I recently bought the mountain lion app, the app being very big and my internet being very slow i couldnt download it yet. I went to the local apple store for help where i was told that i either get a better internet connection or download it from a friends place as the store also has a bad internet connection. I dont know what to do and i am really disappointed by the service apple offers. Torrent isn't helping either, it asks for the original id and password, not mine. Is there something i can do, or just let the app rot in my account thinking i threw 20$ in the trash? Plz help

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

Torrent download of Mac OSXs is illegal and cannot be discuss here. Although it intrigues me that you could illegally download 4GB but not Legally download 4GB.

It sounds as if you're just going to have to take a holiday in order to get the full download... pause occasionally so that the connection doesn't drop, etc. Yes, it's too bad that Apple doesn't have a provision for those with slow/spotty Internet connections... but I know of no other way to get Mountain Lion (I also make the recommendation of using a neighbors, friends, etc., connection if it is faster than your own!).
