Q: Transfer photos from Mac to ipad without syncing?

I need to transfer files From my Macbook Pro to my Ipad mini. I do not want to use Itunes. I need to be able to select only a few photos and files, Other times all files. I just need to manage the files. There are to many inherit problems syncing that do not coincide with a health work flow. Furthermore, with the work flow, I need to do this over usb, a majority of the time, no wifi, no internet, and no paying for apps that should do a simple task as moving a photo to the ipad.

On A P.C. It is easy. Plug it into the computer drop the files in and go. How do you do this on Mac?

1. Is there a way I can see the ipad as a drive on my Macbook Pro and access the files in the library's?

2. Without connecting to a computer, how do you delete all photos in the camera roll on the ipad?

3. If question #1 is not possible, how do I transfer photos and files to my ipad from the  Macbook Pro without the programs listed above?

There are many ways to do this and doing iTunes way is one old fashioned way that works but requires way too much skill.

Another way is to transfer to cloud drives like Dropbox and then read it off that

The third way is to use applications like ours called iPad Max Platinum wherein you install an agent on the Mac and then all files show up on your iPad and whichever one you need locally just download it to your iPad or iPhone over a wireless connection.

Even a 6 years old can do it. What your point, trying to sell your solution?

You need to put in a disclaimer for your ads.

    Hi Everyone..

Just to make things a bit easier and a whole lot fast than Iphoto, all you have to do is go to "Spotlight" located in the upper right hand conner next to the date and time (the little magnifying glass) and type in "Image Capture" and it will locate any device conected to your computer or laptop. You can then select where you would like to save it. Also, if you want to transfer it to an external hard drive thats connected to your comuter select "Other" under options to save to. It's that SIMPLE!!! Hope I was a big help. For some reason Apple seem to noting about this feature but it's already installed on your apple computers.

Another completely free solution is to use Pic Share It to send the files over Wi-Fi from your Mac to your iPad.  You just connect to the iPad over Wi-Fi and drag and drop photos to your iPad.

There are many third-party iPhone Transfer programs available which meets your needs: don't need iTunes; selectively transfer photos; manage iPad fines one Mac; no need to use Wi-Fi or internet.

    1. Is there a way I can see the ipad as a drive on my Macbook Pro and access the files in the library's?

No, you can't. iPad is not a storage device.

    2. Without connecting to a computer, how do you delete all photos in the camera roll on the ipad?

Deleting camera roll is easy on your iPad. On your iPad, tap "Photos", then select those you want to remove, tap delete button.

    3. If question #1 is not possible, how do I transfer photos and files to my ipad from the  Macbook Pro without the programs listed above?

    hi,

I was having the same issue, turns out there's a REALLY SIMPLE way to do it with just your mac via Spotlight – select, copy over or delete photos as you want to. This link spells it out so I don't have to with some nice step-by-step instructions … if in doubt ask a teacher I guess!

    Dyhas38,

I really wish others would acknowledge how nice it would be to be able to drag and drop files from a mac to an ipad as conveniently as you would be able to do it between a PC and just about any other device, including an ipad without a third-party app.

Demo's response seems like the general consensus:

If you really need to operate this way, and I understand that you may need to do so, the iPad is/was not a practical choice for you.

I find that to be a frustrating attitude, because it means apple has no incentive to meet the needs of people who "think different."

Anyway, if you keep a copy of all the photos that have been imported onto the ipad in a folder on a thumb drive, you can plug the thumb drive into the mac, add the new photos to the thumb drive (and delete the ones you don't want) and then sync photos with just that folder. Or at least that's what I'm going to start doing from now on.

I do not understand why people are still replying here to a two year old posted thread?

The Original Poster has, probably, found his/her own solutions by now as there are more external alternatives for photo storage than there was 2 years, ago.

Since the OP hasn't responded in two years, I think it's a safe assumption that a solution was found or the OP ditched the iPad for some other tablet device that would work better for the OP's needs.

Pay attention to the dates, peoples!
