iPhone 5 Sleep/Wake Button Issue

Ok so my iPhone's sleep/wake button works perfectly fine when pressed from far left side but does not work when pressed from far right side. It gets unresponsive sometimes (20% times) when pressed from center. I took my iPhone to Apple Authorized Service Provider and they said that if sleep/wake button is working fine when pressed from center then it cannot be replaced, I further asked for their iphone and showed them that their iphone is not having the issue what I'm facing with mine. They have taken my phone and will let me know after they diagnose it. Can please anybody confirm if this is the case.

PS: I'm from India and we do not have Apple Stores here yet so we have to take our phones to authorized service center and it's on them if they want to get the phone replaced or not.

If the the sleep button is unresponsive or only work when u push it on a cetain place. then it means that there is problems with the button. they must replace your iphone if it has a warranty. It shouldnt be a big issue or they might just repair the button. it doesnt take long to repair.

But according to them if button is working when pressed from centre then they will not replace it.

I had the same issue with my iPhone 5 and i went to Apple Store here in Milan (Italy) and they replace it immediately.

Mine sleep button didn't work when pressed on the right side of the button.

Its an issue. Get it replaced immediately if its under warranty.

Call Apple Care in case you are facing issues in locating an Apple store near by.

It's the AASP discretion depending on their diagnosis.

if its a mechanical issue with regards to the sleep/wake button, as long as you're under the hardware warranty, then it should be replaced.

You have to keep in mind that theres should be no accidental damage.

Ok so got my iPhone replaced and got it today. My old iPhone's warranty was expiring in November 2013 but the phone I received today has warranty till 24th June 2014. So now my phone has warranty till June 2014 right ?

Hello bro, I'm from india and I'm facing the same problem too..glad that you got your iphone 5 replaced..my warranty ends on nov 2013 too. What do I need to do to get it replaced ? Need help, give me your number, I'll call you

Hi. I bought he phone in May '13 and was experiencing the same issue with the sleep button. Contacted the Apple service centre In Delhi and they repalced the phone on the same day. FYI...It is still under warranty

your warranty is from the original purchase date, not for the new replacement phone, if your warranty was going to expire shortly, they do tack on 90 days, but not the full year
