My phone has water damage how do I go about fixing it
iPhone 5
water damage is generally a death sentence for cell phones. Since we can't open it up to see the extent of the damage, bring it to an Apple store or AASP for evaluation.
Apple offers an out of warranty or not covered by the warranty "repair" price that pays for an exchange at a significantly reduced price off the full retail sales price. The exchange will be the same model, storage capacity, and color.
For an iPhone 5 the replacement cost from Apple is $229 USD for an out of warranty repair.
Unless you have the AppleCare Protection Plan + with incidents available. ;D
Then it's only $49 USD...
As soon as a phone is exposed to water-it needs to be turned off. It should be placed in a bag of rice or kitty litter for a week to ten days.
If it does not power on after that or shows signs of damage-it has to be written off. The water has caused damage, shorting out components.
