Accessing library on macbook air

My main itunes library has been moved off my PC,to my synology NAS. So now on my pc, i choose keep itunes organized, consolidated files, and changed the media location to the NAS. Works great

On my macbook air, what are my options with using this library on the nas? Right now I have home share setup, and that is what i use to access my library on the nas. Only downfall, I can't rate/star songs on the mac. Would it be better for me to change my library location on my mac, from the default, to the directory of the library on the NAS?
