iphone missing apps after restore to replacement phone

I replaced my iphone 4s which was faulty today and restored it from my macbook pro backup. All settings and standard apps and some of my most recent app purchases are there, but about 50 apps which I purchased are missing. They don't appear to be listed under the app store either. Is it possible I have two accounts, and if so, how do I find out?

thanks

Just for anyone whom it may help. I backed up old iPhone 4 in iTunes, then restored this backup onto new iPhone 5s- all was good except the apps- nearly all were missing!

Easiest way for me was-: select from Menu "File>Add to Library".

Then I searched for all *.ipa files and added them. (use the little Spotlight option in dialog box).

Now when I looked at Library/Apps in iTunes sidebar, it was like I remembered- lots of apps.

Hope it helps someone.

slayer75... GREAT ADVICE! Thank you. *ahhhhh, finally some resolution. Yes, I had this same issue - where "most" of my apps disappeared when I did a Restore From Backup to my new 5s.

So I did as you mentioned (in iTunes btw, for those who weren't sure), which populated my apps (and their info... thank god) back in to iTunes again. Once that was done, then I just did another backup of my 4s. And then another Restore From Backup on my 5s. ... and it worked!

I just couldn't seem to figure out what was causing the issue... I guess the .ipa (apps) files had moved somehow.

Thanks buddy 🙂🙂🙂

Good Evening Everyone,

I recently had to reset my phone due to not having access to iMessage and FaceTime (after the iOS7 update) and lost all of my apps. I did some research and found this YouTube video that definitely did the trick...your apps will return back to normal. Please click on the attached link below:

I hope this helps!

I had the same problem. Restored a backup on my iPhone 4 onto a local machine (not icloud), turned in my iphone at the apple store to get credit towards a new phone, restored onto the new phone and no apps. It happened to both me and my wife.

For my wife, just plugging in the phone a second time worked; the apps were there and loaded onto her phone.

For me, I had no apps, and when I went to check the app store, it had a record of my purchases but didn't display any apps when I looked at 'not on this phone', as if there weren't any apps even in the app store. I had only added my apple ID recently so I figured something hadn't set right in the setup. Restarting the iPhone and re-entering the apple store worked; my apps were there and I just re-downloaded them. When I did, the data was still there. It had been on my backup.

This may help some people.

1. Go to iTunes on your computer. Go up to the top where it says "FIle Edit View, etc." and click on "View" Then go down to "Sidebar" and make sure "Show Sidebar" has been clicked.

2. Now go to the Sidebar, and under library, see if "Apps" is present. If not, go up to the top, and click on "iTunes", then "Preferences" then, click under "General" make sure "Apps" has a check mark by it.

3. Then go to the Sidebar, and click on "Apps" and see if any Apps are present. If not, then this is a problem.

4. In the Sidebar, click on "iTunes Store", then, on the right hand side of "iTunes Store", under "Quick Links" click on "Purchased."

5. Then, at the top of this page, under "Purchased", click on "Apps." See if any Apps show up. If they have a little "cloud" in the upper right corner, then they haven't been downloaded to this particular computer.

6. Go to the bottom of this page, and click on "Download All". All of your purchased apps should begin to download onto this particular computer.

7. Then, wait to download all of your Apps. This could take a while.

8. Then, restore your iPhone from backup, and the Apps should appear.

I hope this helps someone. If this helps you, post a response so that others will know whether it works.

Good luck.
