how do you add borders into cells

I imported an excel spreadsheet that had columns created and I have tried to add borders back but numbers does not work

I want to put some extra border lines around part of a spreadsheet - how?

MacBook Air, iOS 6.1.3

To add borders You, generally, must make 5 selections:


1) select the cell(s) you want to modify

2) select which borders

3) select the border type

4) select the border weight

5) select the boarder color


Use the border controls in the toolbar:

i did all that but nothing changed other than I got a very faint line on one cell - is it something to do with the styles set up? this spreadsheet has special lines and borders added in excel - maybe numbers just doesnt like them???

ive deleted the cells to do a get around but I am bemused why it doesnt work - I will look at p 57 but think I did what you are supposed to
