Q: USE OF CCLEANER

I have a new iMac 27". I would like to know if it is recommended the use of a "CCleaner" or "Clean My Mac" as an every day routine. Thanks.

    They are both worthless

In my testing of the apps that claim to clean Mac, I have found them to either not do what they claimed ot to do dangerous things without tell you.

There is really no need for them on OS X

You mustn't use cleaning applications like CCleaner. They may work correctly once, but if they detect files wrongly, they may delete OS X files, making Mac OS X unusable and losing files. Also, OS X knows how to take care of itself, so you don't have to do anything.

You have to be careful specially with MacKeeper, considered as malware by a lot of users. The case of this app is extreme, and that's the perfect example of an useless application

Thanks for your quote. For instance, I've read in that article: if your Mac is asleep when one maintenance procedure is scheduled, in OSX 10.8.4 will run shortly after the Mac wakes up.

Where I live we have dust in the air (at my office) so I put a cover at night to protect my Mac. My question is: is it ok to cover the Mac if it is asleep or am I doing something wrong here? Thanks again. Cheers!

A light weight, cotton cover should be fine.

Go to System Preferences > Energy Saver and set the Display to Sleep after 20 Minutes of inactivity...

That way should your Mac Wake from Sleep (for any reason) the Display will go back to sleep.
