Whem I connect my Iphone 5 to Itunes the summery and all does not appear.

The first time I attached my phone to itunes the deviced showed summery and I was able to go into each catagory and edit it all but after that it just syncs and does not give me the option anymore. This is not the first phone either. I'm with TMobile that had problems with the frist phone and they sent me another phone and forgot to have me sign the phone aggrement on the 2nd phone and then sent me yet another phone that I signed an aggreement with and it happened with that one as well.

I also use that area when I make my own tunes for my phone. This was never a problem until I believe it was the software for the 11 version. Im at my wits end.

Also when I do sync I can't get my videos that I take to sync over to the new phone. I was trying to use cloud but it was not set up right so I have set it up correctly now but just synced with Itunes to get my pics back. Any help is appreciated.

Thank you

Mary

You need to select your iPhone under Devices in the iTunes source list to access the various tabs and settings for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes.

There is a setting for your iPhone with iTunes to not sync automatically when connected and iTunes includes a global setting to not sync any iPod or iOS device automatically when connected.

You're welcome.

Set not to sync where?

You said you don't have access to the Summary tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes which is where automatically sync when this iPhone is connected is selected or deselected.

If you know this, you have access to the Summary tab and all other tabs for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes and if not selected, your iPhone should not be syncing when connected.

I guess we are talking about two separately places but now that i think about it I'm thinking that I remember that also. I would think I set it not to sync auto but I can't be sure.. But under Edit the pref area I click on for it not to sync automatically. The very first time I plugged my Iphone 5 in the Summery came up. After that it has not come up again.

I'm really hoping that I don't have to delete Itunes and reinstall to get this to work properly. Am I?

There is two separate places as already provided.

There is a setting under the Summary tab for an iPod or iOS device sync preferences with iTunes to not sync automatically when the device is connected, and iTunes includes a global preferance setting to not sync automatocally when any iPod or iOS device is connected.

When your iPhone is connected to iTunes, it is available under Devices in the iTunes source list - the iTunes source list is where you select your music library, or Movies, playlists, etc. Select your iPhone under Devices in the iTunes source to make the various tabs and selections for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes available in the main iTunes window.

Right I understand that. And when you told me under Summery that I could check off not to sync my phone it brought back that memory. I just have not been able to get back into that area since the first time I got the phone and synced it. I uncheck the pref under edit and restarted Itunes and it still did not sync my phone Automatically so I must have told the summery area as well not to sync automactally.

This what I do have when I plug my phone in On the right is my phone next to the Itunes store Icon. Then on the left when I click on Menu I have the option to sync back up transfer my phone apps purchases, etc. from there. That is it.

Allan I apperceate your help. Ocean thank you for your encouragement. I understand the back up is not the same as the source list. I was pointing out the back up of the phone is there so the back up is at least happening and showing up. I think I made that clear when I said to you that in the past my phone has always been on the menu and it has not been there recently. It is always on the right side of the bar on top next to the itunes store icon. I can assure you I'm not trying to waste your time. Nor am trying or am I obtuse.

Every since the new style version this is how it has been so forgive me that I am not following you as fast as you would like. That does not mean however I'm not appreciating your work or that I'm not familiar with what you are saying. I can only tell you what I see on MY ITUNES window. So I am paying attention, I promise.

I have in my possion 3 IPHONE 5. This has happened to all 5 phones. The first time I plugged them the summery came right up. After that the above happened. That is all I know to tell you. It is not me being stupid it is me telling you what I know. And when you asked about my device showing up in the menu again it had been so long since before the new version it was a light bulb moment and not a duh moment.

There is a menu window that appears when right-clicking on the iPhone under Devices in the iTunes source list that includes the following options: Sync, Transfer Purchases, Back Up, Reset Warnings, and Copy Serial Number.

If you are able to right click on your iPhone under Devices in the iTunes source list to bring up the menu window as provided, you should be able to just select your iPhone under devices which makes the various tabs for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes available in the main iTunes window. If the Summary tab for your iPhone sync preferences was not selected prior to disconnecting your iPhone from iTunes, whatever tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes that was selected at that time will be selected when re-connecting your iPhone to iTunes. If the Summary tab for your iPhone sync preferences is not selected after selecting your iPhone under Devices in the iTunes source list, it will be available at the top of the main iTunes window to select along with the following options: Info, Apps, Tones, Music, Movies, TV Shows, Podcasts, Books, Photos.

And when you asked about my device showing up in the menu again it had been so long since before the new version it was a light bulb moment and not a duh moment.

This has been the same with iTunes since the original iPod was released. Nothing has changed in this regard.

I would tend to agree with you. I'm assuming maybe mine did not install correctly because I have had this problem since new version. Again I was not by any means not understanding you.

It won't let me right click when It go to sync Mary's IPhone at all. I just tried it. So maybe since my phone is brand new I should call customer support. This started with the new version new style. With Ipod and older Iphone. Or maybe delete the Itunes and then reinstall which I hoping I would not have to do. Especially if it's not a fix and I have to call anyway.

It shows my phone just to sync and the top bar still shows songs albums playlist etc. Not summery or the other options I should get.

Whem I connect my Iphone 5 to Itunes the summery and all does not appear.
