Ical calendar keeps setting to public

I have an ical calendar which I share with my wife, however it keeps setting itself to 'public' and sends an alert to iphone, ipad etc. I have reset on each device including on icloud web page, but low and behold it reverts back to public within minutes and sends the alerts all over again. Argggggh! Any help would be appreciated!
