Flash storage is in the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro with Retina display. It's a SSD without the enclosure, getting the same speed as with the SSD but in less space. This doesn't mean that your files are stored in Internet.
A SSD is a hard drive like the ones you can find in any PC or Mac but without mechanical parts, getting a better speed and with less risk of damaging your drive
Flash storage is synonymous with a Solid State Drive. Data is stored on a chip as opposed to a spinning platter. It is not storing data online. It can be internal to a MBP or used externally in a SSD drive or a USB drive.
Ciao.
Flash Storage basically was derived from our flash disks(USB data travellers) because it uses the same principle. Instead of having a spinning hard drive, it has storage chips(which stores data), and is called flash due to the faster reads and writes it can run compared to the ordinary spinning hard drives.

No, it's storing your data on the computer.
However the only method to 100% remove sensitive data off a Solid State Drive is to grind it into a fine powder (NSA guidelines) and if the SSD is soldiered to the logicboard, then that will also have to go into the grinder.
The logicboard is basically your entire computer inner workings and in the case of devices like iPads/iPhones/USB drives etc which it's all sealed up, the entire device has to go into the grinder.
Computers with 100% traditional hard drives (not "Fusion" or "Hybrid") can still be scrubbed of unwanted data.
Ok Guys I got the point thank you but the question now why the size for this is smaller than the old one, until now i don't understand why they did that ok I know it's faster than the old one HDD but what about the size??? the most important thing for me???
Flash storage is more expensive than a hard drive. They replaced a hard drive by flash storage because there's no space inside the MacBook Pro with Retina display to put the hard drive.
If there isn't enough flash storage, you can buy an external drive and save the data there, or you can order the MacBook Pro with Retina display with more flash storage
Prices for flash storage go up according to the size of the flash storage. The largest flash storage device you can buy from Apple, currently, is 768GB on the Retina MacBook Pro. The largest SSD currently available for the consumer market is the Crucial M500 960GB SSD.
Does that help?

Is this wise???đ They talking about 128GB!!!!đ No man i prefer the old one
In that case, get a MacBook Pro without a Retina display. It includes a hard drive and you can add memory and hard drive wtihout voiding warranty. For most of users, that MacBook is the best
Who is talking about 128GB? By 'i prefer the old one' do you mean hard drive storage?
Clinton
Yes I mean HDD by the old one.
See mende1's reply - I've a number of HGST 1TB 7K1000 Travelstars - 7200 rpm, 6Gbps, etc. They are very reliable and very fast. Alternately, you could purchased a 'hybrid' drive - I've no experience with them but those that have them seem pleased with the speed, if not the space.
