How do I transfer data (messages) from old iphone to an iphons which has already been setted up?

iPhone 3GS, iOS 5.1.1

The only method to restore SMS/iMessages is to restore from a backup. The backup contains the SMS/Messages. You cannot selectively restore from the backup, it is all or none.
