(HDMI) washed out colors on my dynex 46"

So when i connect my macbook pro to my 46 inch dynex the colors look washed out like the contrast is not properly calibrated or something. under the color settings i tried calibrating it on my own settings but i obviously didnt do it right because now the colors look too dark. can anyone help me out? am i even doing this right? sorry for my cluelessness
