I have refurbished iphone 5 from ebay and its linked to apple id.the seller dosen't have the id account. how can I activate it???
I did dfu mode and install the newest update but still asked me foe the previoes owner apple id??
any suggestion

Settings/General/Reset - Erase all content and settings will set up the phone as new.
I cannot go to the setting!!!!!.I cannot pass the activation screen. This phone reset without sign out from icloud. Or basically stolen.
The message was "this phone linked to apple id ........ Sign in to use this iphone" i tried to used mine doesn't work.
I cannot retune this phone. And i paid $500 for it.
Any suggestion guys.
Sounds like it has a beta of iOS 7 on it. You are out $500.
As you bought it from eBay it should have an eBay guarantee. Contact eBay about returning it.
You can also try a DFU restore (google it). This is the only hope of fixing it, and it isn't certain to work.
The phone had a bootlegged copy of iOS 7 installed on it at some point. It is now a brick. That's probably why the seller put it on ebay to begin with.
File a claim with ebay. Maybe you can get your money back.
This actually may have been a valid developers beta that was lost or stolen and then resold as I don't believe the bootlegs will allow you to activate the find my iPhone functions in iOS 7. Apparently that feature works.
Pull up itunes on a computer and plug the iPad cord into the USB but the the device, hold the "Sleep/Wake" button and the "Home" button at the same time and count to 8. then let go the Sleep/Wake button BUT KEEP YOUR FINGER ON THE HOME BUTTON. while holding the home button connect the device to the cable thats plugged into the computer and keep holding the home button
AT NO TIME SHOULD YOU LET GO OF THAT HOME BUTTON until you see the message pop up in itunes saying "iTunes has discovered your iPad in recovery mode" then just go through the screens to restore the device.
if that message doesn't pop up after about 20 seconds, then call apple care, let them know you tried to perform the DFU mode restore (Deivce Firmware Update) and it was a no go. and ask them if you're in warranty to replace it for free.
If this was an actual developers phone (or beta tester) and they set up location services and find my iPhone then putting it into DFU mode and Restoring as new will NOT work as it will continue to request the Apple ID. Apple will not do anything with such a phone, including replace it, unless the OP can show they know the Apple ID/password of the iPhone and can open it.
because of that I like apple they respect the customers. I called apple care and they understand the problem and direct me to the apple store and he give me a replacement code. I went to them and they replace it to me.
