Why can't my husband and daughter who are both using Samsung Galaxy S3 and S4 Active not able to receive text from my iPhone 5 and my daughter's iPhone 4S?
iPhone 5, iOS 6.1.4
I forgot to add that we are on the AT&T network. Not sure if that has anything to do with it.
Contact AT&T messaging is a carrier feature.
It's the iPhone user that needs to change their messaging to SMS. I just spend countless hours readind posts and calling AT&T.
Settings-messaging-SMS turned to on position.
Also UNREGISTER all Apple devices under your Apple ID that use iMessage
GalaxyS4 And iPhone5 are enemies... competitors just don't get along with one-another 🙂

Samsung phone do not have iMessage. Will you stop giving false info.
You don't have to switch iMessage OFF to text someone who has no iPhone.
If the OP previously had an iphone, then their phone # is registered to use imessage. They do infact need to disable imessage in order for their daughter's iphone to send the message as SMS to their Samsung Galaxy phones.
When we disable iMessage on my iphone 4 so I can text sons New samsung, my husbands iphone5s can't send text to my iphone4!! Gets an error message - "message failed".
Did your son used to have an iPhone?? If so, he didn't disable iMessage on it before moving to the Samsung.
Yes he did have an iPhone and no, Verizon failed to tell him to disable iMessage before they bought the phone from him. He no longer has the phone-Verizon took it on a buy back.
He has since unregistered from Apple And iTunes, however no luck in receiving text from iPhone users.
You will need to call Apple and have them unregister your # with iMessage. It should work fine once that's done.

Glad you got it working again.
I have a simple solution.
The person who has the iPhone sending you the text messages your are not getting, has to press and hold the blue message box until the menu pops up and one option is to "Send as Text Message" tap that - have them send another new message to you, if it is blue, not green, repeat. I beleieve if you do that twice, the iPone will always send you a text message, not an iMessage. 🙂
