I have a MacBook Pro 9,2 (Announced at WWDC 2012) running Mountain Lion. Should I install Mavericks as my main OS? It is stable enough to actually run FCPX and Photoshop?

You mustn't install OS X Mavericks. It's in developer preview status, so it means that it's not ready for general use. Apart from that, a lot of applications aren't compatible and the most important: we are not allowed to talk about it and you can only install it if you are a developer. Wait for the final release in fall to upgrade, but note that some applications may take months to release updates that make them compatible with Mavericks
