How do I send a gift to a friend who has a US account when I have an Australian one?

I want to give a friend a birthday present but I can only buy Aus gift cards. I am assuming that this will be useless to my friend. But when I try to go to the US store I keep getting sent back to the Australian one.

Any Ideas?
