iPod video makes weird beeping sound at midnight every night

My iPod video makes a strange beeping noise at midnight every night. I've heard of a couple people saying that their iPod made a wierd noise due to a failing hard drive. Could that be the problem with mine? Should I be prepared to get a new iPod? Thanks!
